Short drama is serialised storytelling cut into episodes of a minute or two, shot for a phone held upright. If you have never tried it, this is what to expect.

What an episode is#

Each episode covers a single beat of the story and ends on a question. Several in a row feel like one scene of a traditional series.

Why there are eighty of them#

A full series usually runs a couple of hours. Splitting it into short episodes means you can stop anywhere without losing your place.

Finding something you will finish#

  • Pick a genre you already like; the conventions carry over.
  • Start with a completed series so there is no waiting.
  • Give it three episodes. If you are not curious by then, move on.
